A wood board can be cut to a slope or a tight side yard in the field. A vinyl panel follows a set profile. Tell us about slopes, trees, and short runs when you ask for the estimate.

Maintenance

Wood can be stained. Ask if you want stain in the job. If you do not, we price the fence without it. Boards that sit in mulch or stay wet at the ground fail sooner. Leave a gap so the bottom can dry.

Vinyl routine care is washing, not staining. That is less painting, not zero care. Posts, gates, and impacts still need attention. A cracked panel can be replaced when that color and profile are still sold. If they are not, we will say so.

Frost, wind, and wet soil

Drainage is where the materials differ. Water against the bottom of a wood fence shortens the boards. Vinyl does not rot the way wood does, but a heaved post still throws the panels out of line. Standing water, mulch piled on the boards, and snow stacked against the fence belong in the description.
